Format For Submitting Ancestral Sketches
The Huxford Genealogical Society (HGS) would be very pleased to receive your submittal of a genealogical sketch concerning a pioneer from the Wiregrass area of south Georgia or north Florida or for a descendant of a Wiregrass Georgia pioneer.
Please submit sketches for an upcoming HGS quarterly magazine in the following format (as closely as possible). Sketches not submitted in this format may have to be returned to the submitter for further editing. The following cutoff dates apply for the birth date of the ancestor who is the subject of a submitted sketch:

Sketches HEADER FOR SKETCH:
BODY of SKETCH: In the body of the sketch, please provide information about the subject such as birth date and place of birth, names of parents and dates and places of birth for them, etc (when known). Names of siblings may also be included. Include marriage information such as name of the subject's wife, her birth date and place of birth, place and the date of the marriage of the subject and his wife. Include the names of her parents and other information about her parents, when known. If a sketch of the subject's parents or their spouse appeared in a previous "Huxford Genealogical Society Magazine" or in a volume of "Pioneers of Wiregrass Georgia," please indicate the appropriate volume number; e.g. HGSM, Vol. XXVII, #4 for a quarterly magazine reference and PWG, Vol. IX for a book reference as appropriate in the body of the sketch. LIST of the CHILDREN of the SUBJECT and HIS WIFE: Please list the children and the children's pertinent information in the format depicted in the sketch format shown by the following table:
ADDITIONAL MARRIAGES: If there was a second or third marriage for the subject of the sketch and there were other children by another marriage, list them after the first marriage and children in the same format as shown above. Also, please state what happened to the previous wife, such as death information and place of burial, etc. In the next part of the sketch, after listing all of the marriages and children and their spouses, you should list other pertinent genealogical information such as military service, church membership, land transaction and/or location information, political information and anything else you feel would be of interest. Note: Please list this information in chronological order whenever feasible. DEATH INFORMATION: The last part of the sketch should list the death information, such as when and where the subject, his wife, and their parents died and where they are buried. Also any other information you would like to add to your sketch. SOURCES: List your documentation here. Please include copies of your sources or documentation whenever possible. Also try to be as specific as possible. For example, if one of the people in your sketch has an unfamiliar name, indicate if they were male or female. If the surname of one of the children's spouses or parents is unknown, please so state. CONTRIBUTED BY: Please provide your name and mailing address. And email address, if desired. WORD PROCESSING & SUBMITTALS: If you use WordPerfect or Microsoft Word,
please include sketches on a floppy NOTE: Please report information in chronological order whenever possible and double check to make sure event dates are feasible. You would be surprised at how many DOBs reported in sketches are long after the father or mother have died. In situations where dates in your source information are obviously wrong, provide an appropriate comment to point out the error. Sample
