Format For Submitting Ancestral Sketches

List of Sketches                     Sample Sketch

Order Form for Purchasing Individual Sketches  (PDF)

The Huxford Genealogical Society (HGS) would be very pleased to receive your submittal of a genealogical sketch concerning a pioneer from the Wiregrass area of south Georgia or north Florida or for a descendant of a Wiregrass Georgia pioneer.

Ancestral sketches are published initially in the HGS quarterly magazine for review by the membership.  After a period of time allowed for the submission of additions and corrections to the sketch published in the quarterly magazine, your sketch will be placed in a future "Pioneers of Wiregrass Georgia" book publication.

Please submit sketches for an upcoming HGS quarterly magazine in the following format (as closely as possible).  Sketches not submitted in this format may have to be returned to the submitter for further editing.

The following cutoff dates apply for the birth date of the ancestor who is the subject of a submitted sketch:

Pioneers of Wiregrass Georgia  -  before 1880

Florida Suwannee Land Pioneers  -  before 1885

Descendants of Pioneers of Wiregrass Georgia  -  between 1880 to 1900

WORD PROCESSING & SUBMITTALS:

NOTE:  Please report information in chronological order whenever possible and double check to make sure event dates are feasible.  You would be surprised at how many DOBs reported in sketches are long after the father or mother have died.  In situations where dates in your source information are obviously wrong, provide an appropriate comment to point out the error.
