The 2008 annual HERSEY, ROWELL WHITE Family Reunion at the Bickley United Methodist Church in Bickley, Ware Co., Georgia has been scheduled for Saturday, August 9, 2008.  Everyone with a Wiregrass Georgia Hersey, Rowell or White connection is invited to attend.  Attendees start gathering at the Church about 10:00 AM and will eat lunch around noon. Attendees are requested to bring a covered dish for the lunch.  Paper products, utensils and beverages will be furnished.

The 2005 annual Strickland/Griffin Reunion of the descendants of John Strickland (1804-1879) and James Griffin (1793-1860) and related families will be on September 24, 2005 at Laura Walker State Park, Waycross, Georgia.

Stop at the main entrance to purchase a parking permit and obtain directions to shelter 1.  The shelter is air conditioned. 

 
Registration will begin at 11:00 and lunch will be at 12:30.  Please bring a covered dish and plan to have fun and fellowship. Also bring family histories and photographs to help everyone connect kinships.

Daniel McCranie
Marker Dedication
November 19, 2005  (Saturday)

The Brushy Creek Chapter Daughters of Indian Wars invites you to the marker dedication for Daniel McCranie, an Indian War Veteran, scheduled for November 19, 2005 at the Daniel McCranie Cabin.  Mr. McCranie was born in 1772 and died in 1854.  Immediately following the dedication, a tour of the cabin of Daniel McCranie, his son, which was given to him by his father.  This cabin was built in 1826.

A bar-b-que chicken plate lunch will be served after the tour at the Exchange Club Building in Adel, Georgia.  The price of lunch is $10.  The deadline for reservations for the meal is November 12, 2005.  Make checks payable to Brushy Creek Chapter Indian Wars.

This reunion is hosted by The Ancestral Family Association of Andrew Elton Williams and is held the first weekend in October at Galilee Methodist Church, east of Highway 77 in Jackson County, Florida (between Graceville and Chipley).

We will start gathering about 9:00 AM (Central Time) on Saturday morning, October 7, 2006.  At 10:30 AM we will have lots of family singing followed by a wonderful talk by Fred Beshears of Monticello, Florida.  His subject is the effects of the Civil War on our Williams family in particular and on northwest Florida in general.  At noon, dinner provided by those attending is shared with everyone.

The 2006 William HUGHES Family Reunion at the Prospect Church in Clinch County Georgia has been scheduled for Sunday, November 12, 2006.

William Hughes was born in Barnwell District, South Carolina in 1812 and died in Clinch County in 1889.  His first wife was Nancy Hutto and all children were from this union.  William Hughes is buried at North Cemetery in DuPont and Nancy Hutto is buried at Prospect.

November 12, 2006  (Sunday)  2:30 PM

Markers will be dedicated at 2:30 PM on Sunday, November 12, 2006 for an Indian War Veteran, Capt. John J. North, who had his own militia unit during the time period of fighting the Indians in the Okefenokee Swamp and his son, Edward North, who served with Co H 29th GA during the War Between the States. 

A reception will follow the marker dedication at the home of Mrs. Hazel Lee in DuPont, Georgia.  This was the historic home of Mr. John P. A. DuPont who was a businessman in Savannah during the 1850s and 1860s.  The home in DuPont was his summer home.

James C. C. "Tiger Jim" Davis
Marker Dedication
November 9, 2008  (Sunday)

Reavis E. Dixon stands beside the newly set CSA marker for his great grandfather, James C. C. "Tiger Jim" Davis, at the Ramah Cemetery, near Mershon in Pierce Co., Georgia.   Mr. Davis is the ancestor of hundreds of descendants in Pierce, Appling, Ware, and Bacon counties in Wiregrass Georgia.

The CSA marker was provided by Francis S. Bartow Chapter 83, United Daughters of the Confederacy, and Captain John Knox "Seaboard Guards" Camp 2022, Sons of Confederate Veterans.

A dedication of the monument will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Sunday, November 9, 2008 at the Ramah Cemetery in Pierce County.  The ceremony will be conducted by the above named groups, in addition to the Clement A. Evans Camp 64, Sons of Confederate Veterans and Company H, 26th Georgia Infantry re-enactors.

All descendants, as well as the general public is invited to attend.
