BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCHES NEEDED
|
The Pioneers of
Wiregrass Georgia books (12 volumes in all) and the
Huxford
Genealogical Society Quarterly Magazine (35 volumes,
140 issues) contain over 5,500 original genealogical sketches, plus
thousands more sketches providing additions and corrections to the
original sketches. All of these sketches concern the pioneers
(and their families) of the southeastern Georgia and the northern Florida
region;
i.e., the very first and the early settlers of this region and their
descendants.
New Huxford
Society books will be entitled "Pioneers of
the Wiregrass" and will cover a larger region than the
original series of books; i.e., all of the Wiregrass Region of
southern Georgia, southern Alabama and northern Florida.
If you have ancestors from the
Wiregrass Region, you should consider developing a biographical
sketch to be published by the Huxford Society. The
table below is a partial LIST of
the SKETCHES NEEDED to compliment the sketches
already published.

Formatted Sketch

Log of A & C's in process
The Huxford Genealogical
Society (HGS) would be very pleased to receive your submittal of a genealogical sketch concerning a pioneer from the Wiregrass area of
south Georgia or north Florida
or for a descendant of a Wiregrass Georgia pioneer.
Ancestral
sketches are published initially in the HGS quarterly magazine for review by the
membership. After a period of time allowed for the submission of additions
and corrections to the sketch published in the quarterly magazine, your sketch
will be placed in a future "Pioneers of Wiregrass" book
publication.
Please submit sketches for an upcoming
HGS quarterly magazine in the proposed format (as closely as possible). Sketches not submitted in this format may
have to be returned to the
submitter for further editing.
The following cutoff dates
apply for the birth date of the ancestor who is the subject of a submitted
sketch:
Pioneers
of the Wiregrass - before 1880
Descendants
of Pioneers of Wiregrass
Georgia - between 1880 to 1900
