The Pioneers of
Wiregrass Georgia books (12 volumes in all) and the
Huxford
Genealogical Society Quarterly Magazine (35 volumes,
140 issues) contain over 5,500 original genealogical sketches, plus
thousands more sketches providing additions and corrections to the
original sketches. All of these sketches concern the pioneers
(and their families) of the southeastern Georgia and northern Florida
region;
i.e., the very first and the early settlers of this region and their
descendants.
Using the alphabetical INDEX table above, you will
be directed to a listing of all of the sketches. The listing
of sketches identifies the book and/or magazine where the sketch was
published. This listing is provided for you to learn what
sketches have been published and to expedite
determining the location of the sketches you may need for your research.
You are cordially invited and in fact encouraged to submit sketches
for your Wiregrass Georgia ancestors and / or additions and
corrections to any of the sketches already published.
If you do not own or do not have
access (thru your local library) to the
Pioneers of Wiregrass Georgia volumes or the back issues
of the Huxford Society Quarterly Magazine,
you may want to order the individual sketches that you need for your
research.

PIONEER PUZZLES -
Pioneer Puzzles was a feature (column) of the HGSM starting in
September 1980 (Volume 7, Issue No. 3). The Puzzles were
identifications of conflicting facts (those inconsistent pieces of
data which occasional occur) in the Pioneer Sketches published in
the early volumes of the Pioneers of Wiregrass Georgia books
and in the Huxford Genealogical Society Magazine where a
correction had not been published to resolve the conflict.
Each puzzle was numbered in the order presented. Answers to
the Pioneer Puzzles (when and if solved) were published in the
Additions and corrections column in subsequent issues of the HGSM
and later in a Pioneers of Wiregrass Georgia book. |
