 The
Huxford
Genealogical Society maintains
a genealogical library located in Room 18 in the old high school building in
Homerville (Clinch County), Georgia, now known as the Homerville Municipal Complex. Homerville is located in the lower Coastal
Plain of Georgia and is approximately mid-way between Valdosta
and Waycross on U. S. Highway 84. See Map.
The Huxford Library is now one of the major
genealogical research libraries located in the southeastern United States.

The Library staff will be happy to aid in making
your genealogical research visit more profitable and enjoyable. They are
looking forward to your visit. The staff does not perform your actual
research; the patron of the library is expected to come to the library to
use the resource tools available and compile and organize their own materials.
 The Huxford Library Collection includes general
reference works, genealogical tools and indexes, biographical dictionaries,
individual biographies, family histories, lineage society records,
emigration-immigration records and the following other major record sources:
marriage and death records, census records, church records, court records, land
and tax records, military records, and some institutional records. There
are also many state and county histories. The Huxford Library has
materials on most every state in the United States, however, the major
concentration of materials are from the New England region, the mid-Atlantic
states (Pennsylvania and Virginia) and the southeastern states (especially
Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North and South Carolina).

Homerville is rolling out the red carpet
for members of the Huxford Genealogical Society.
The Homerville
Bed and Breakfast establishments, the Helmstead and
the Inn on Virginia have graciously discounted the
costs for lodging for members of the Huxford Genealogical Society. This
discount places the price of the Homerville's B & Bs on a par with and in some cases lower
that the choice motels / hotels of Valdosta and Waycross with the benefit of
staying within a mile of the Huxford Library.
HELMSTEAD B & B
The Helmstead
B & B is a large two story mansion located at 961 Fargo Highway with four
bedrooms and all of the amenities, such as internet access, in-house computer,

INN on VIRGINIA B & B
The
Inn on Virginia B & B is
located at 130 Virginia Avenue (across the street from the Homerville Exchange
Club). The 'Inn' is a large two story mansion with four bedrooms, two downstairs
and two upstairs with full amenities included. The proprietor, Mr. J.
Brian Brown indicates that Huxford

The special rates for Huxford Members for both of the Homerville B&Bs are $60.00 (sixty
dollars) per night single or double occupancy. This rate excludes the 7% state sales
tax. A free full breakfast or an enhanced continental breakfast (the guest
chooses which they wish) each morning of occupancy.

available in the Huxford Library. Most of the sketches are included in one
of the Huxford publications.

SURNAME Page.
GENETIC
GENEALOGY DATABASE
The Huxford Society is developing a database
for genetic testing results in support of genealogical research for the pioneers
of the Wiregrass Georgia region.
